How to Find Rocky Mountain Escapes:

Travel west from Edmonton (there is an international airport in Edmonton) towards Jasper on modern 4-lane Highway 16 for 300 kilometres (approx. 188 miles), or east from Jasper on Highway 16 for 100 kilometres (approx. 62 miles), until you arrive in the historic mining and logging town of Hinton, Alberta. From Hinton, travel north on 2-lane paved Highway 40 for 50 kilometres (approx. 31 miles). Make sure your camera is loaded for capturing shots of elk, deer and moose on the road!

Turn left at the Rock Lake turn-off, heading west into the mountains on a narrow, winding gravel road for 25 kilometres to the Rocky Mountain Escape sign and parking area. The cabins are 3 kilometres from the parking area -- guests may choose between taking the casual stroll into the site, or being transported in via horse-drawn wagon, sleigh or dog sled. Rocky Mountain Escape staff will also happily arrange transportation from Edmonton or Hinton to the site upon request.

NOTE: Edmonton is located three hours drive north of Calgary via Highway 2.
