A beautifully landscaped 22-acre Tropical Park
with magnificent views of Arenal Volcano.

Located in Costa Rica’s Northern Zone at the Edge of Arenal Volcano National Park and in the foothills of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve (Monteverde Children’s Rainforest). Hummingbird Cottage B&B is the perfect hide-away  to explore all the natural attractions of  the Arenal area (just 15 minutes away): Arenal Volcano National Park; Arenal Hot Springs; Lake Arenal; Canopy tours & Hanging Bridges etc.

Whether you are looking for tropical adventure in the Arenal area or simply enjoy to drop back into our peaceful nature, staying for a day or a couple of weeks, we will be happy to make your stay as comfortable and unforgettable as possible.

With panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest and the beautifully landscaped tropical park from its terrace, the Hummingbird Cottage offers eco-friendly comfort and privacy combined with a touch of tropical art created by its owner.

The spacious and quiet cottage consists of bedroom, living room and bathroom in an open architectural design using native wood from our reforestation project. The walls and high ceilings are formed and painted to imitate the rainforest, complemented by a rustic, custom-made wooden king-sized bed and furniture as well as cotto tile floors. Split A/C and ceiling fans keep the cottage cool and fresh.

Hummingbird Cottage is set in a 22-acre property which was bought by the present owners in 1997 and converted into a privately funded ecological restoration and conservation project (www.arenalbyowner.com/page/ecological-sustainability). If you are interested, we invite you to explore the project using our hiking trails, either on your own or simply accompany us on our daily routine.

The grounds of the Hummingbird Cottage are surrounded by landscaped tropical gardens with countless native ornamental plants (focus on native Heliconia species) and fruit trees. According to the season, our guests are invited to pick ripe fruits and enjoy the diversity of this tropical paradise.

As part of the project and next door to Hummingbird Cottage, the owner Ruth is running Coco Loco Arts & Crafts Gallery and her own art studio where tropical paintings, original palm leave masks and woodwork are created (www.arenalbyowner.com/page/original-artwork).

The art studio and gallery are open daily, except Sundays and our visitors are welcome to take a tour through our exposition of local arts and crafts.

Cancellation Policy: 7-day notice required to refund your full deposit  minus an administrative fee of $10. Visa/MC card required at time of booking. 50% charged if cancelled within 7 days of arrival.
