For the more adventurous, you can also find your way to Bocas del Toro from San Jose, Costa Rica, a day's trip by bus. You'll need to get a visa stamp in your passport or a tourist card (U.S. $5.00, available from LACSA or some travel agencies) before leaving San Jose to cross into Panama. You can then either take a bus or taxi to Changuinola, from where you can either fly directly to Bocas del Toro or take another bus to Almirante on the coast.

You can get to Panama City from the United States via Continental or American Airlines from major U.S. airports including Houston, Atlanta, Miami and San Diego. You can contact your local travel agent for prices and more details.

The more adventurous traveler may enjoy traveling from Panama City to Bocas del Toro by Bus. The buses usually run in the late afternoons and travel mostly by night. The bus will arrive in the Panamanian Coastline City of Almirante. The trip can take anywhere from 10 to 12 hours. From there you can take a boat or ferry over to Bocas del Toro where you will be met by a Solarte del Caribe Inn Representative. Once you arrive at Bocas del Toro Airport you will be greeted by Solarte del Caribe Inn Staff and transported by the Hotel's private (shuttle) boat taxi to the Island of Solarte. The shuttle is great fun and approximately a 15-minute boat ride!
