off the "beaten path". Cooler, located at a 5,000 feet elevation in the
Dragoon Mountains. A friendly, welcoming, peaceful sanctuary.

history.
- Celebrate nature and spirit in a land of immense beauty.
We specialize in "in-room service" so you
can fully relax while dining in the comfort and privacy of your suite or casita,
or outdoors on your private patio. We cater to an active, healthy lifestyle with
lots of choices for everyone including traditionalists, vegetarians, special
diets, children and folks who just like to indulge now and again.
Our breakfast menu varies, but some of our specialities include: generous
servings of mesquite-corn or blueberry buttermilk pancakes, sweet pepper
frittata, greek style quiche & deep dish chili relleno casserole (both
vegetarian dishes), mesquite bacon, pan-fried herb potatoes, apple crumble,
cinnamon cranberry/orange sticky buns and a variety of fruit smoothies including
strawberry, peach, mango and pineapple-coconut. Your satisfaction is important
to us and we happily accommodate special dietary needs with advance notice.
We are happy to support you in the finest of informal, dining pleasures: BBQ on
your private porch or campfire foods enjoyed sitting round a toasty warm fire
(weather permitting). There is a full kitchen in the Casita Manzanita and a
fully equipped kitchenette in the Agave Suite. Both units have a propane BBQ on
the back patio. The tipi has an outdoor fire pit with a grill and we have
another beautiful fire pit as well.
As we are remote, advance planning for lunch and supper meals is recommended.
You may wish to bring along food provisions, purchase easily prepared provisions
or picnic lunch fixings from us, or eat at local restaurants. We are 45 minutes
from a large grocery store. The nearest town of Sunsites (20 minutes and 3 miles
of unpaved road away) has a small grocery store, several restaurants and cafes.

Tipi in a Secluded Cove
 The tipi
provides an opportunity to be present in “nature at its finest” and to fully
partake in the magic of the Dragoon Mountains at Cochise Stronghold. A few
minutes walk from the main guest house, in a secluded grove of manzanita,
juniper and oak trees, the tipi offers comfort and luxury for a “wilderness
experience par excellence”.
- urbanites with a taste for adventure
- wilderness enthusiasts
- rock climbers and hikers
- romantic couples
- individuals seeking a solitary and peaceful
nature retreat
- families
The tipi is popular because it is so uniquely western while comfortable.
The tipi is a traditional structure, 20 feet in diameter, made of the finest
quality canvas and supported by lodgepole pine. It comfortably sleeps four
people with a full size double bed (4” quality foam mattress) and two deluxe
single beds.
In the center of the tipi is a Franklin wood stove. Many a night in every season
has been enjoyed in total comfort with a toasty fire.
Children adore the tipi, but young children can stay only if attended by a
responsible adult at all times. Children must be over the age of 8 to stay.
Flashlights, sleeping bags if you have them, coolers, water bottles, camping
gear, field guides...
Just outside the tipi is a beautiful firepit for your enjoyment and campfire
cooking. A Coleman stove, a full set of camping cookware and large cooler
chests, are available upon request. However, as we are a wilderness location
food is not allowed inside the tipi. We wish to avoid any potential problems
with insects, skunks, ringtail cats and mice. An outdoor cook station can easily
be set up.
The water to the tipi comes from a garden hose just outside the door. There is a
propane heated ourdoor shower and solar heated shower bags which also work very
well on sunny days (the norm here). There is an outdoor camp toilet, but tipi
guests are also welcome to use the toilets in the B&B guest house when
available, or the toilet in our private residence.
The hot tub is available to tipi guests, when not in use by other B&B guests.
We think the tipi is the “best deal going” at $99.00 per night (double
occupancy) for a minimum 2 night stay. This includes a full gourmet, hot
breakfast, linens, warm blankets, quilts and lots of wood for the stove. For
additional persons please add $25.00 per person/night.
For parties larger than four we can supply insulated camping mattresses
(thermo-rests) to put on the floor to increase the available sleeping space. It
is a great help to us if you bring your own sleeping bags, though not essential.
