Where the CT River meets the Sea!

We invite you to step back in time
and enjoy the splendor of yesteryear in this magnificent c.1746 National
Historic Register Bed and Breakfast Inn located in quintessential
shoreline New England village of Old Saybrook, Connecticut!
The guest rooms are romantically furnished in period style each one
featuring a 4-poster or canopy Queen bed, a working fireplace and
Jacuzzi whirlpool tub, a comfortable sitting area, cable TV, phone/modem
line, stereo/CD player, AC, and private bath.
This charming home boasts many fine
original details including original wide-board floors throughout,
hand-hewn beams, original doors with hand forged latches, wainscoting, a
corner cupboard, beehive oven, and 8 working fireplaces. The home has
been lovingly restored over the last 7 years in hopes that our guests
will enjoy the wonderful history, charm and authentic decoration that is
here.
A formal candlelit breakfast is
served in the elegant dining room with fireplace on fine china. Relax in
our picturesque grounds with pretty gardens, inviting sitting areas, a
handsome two century-old maple tree with swing, a 3-tier fountain, and
2-person hammock. Or in colder months, lounge by the fire in the parlor
or the privacy of your room, enjoy a game of chess, checkers, or bridge,
or visit with friends, and enjoy complimentary port wine, teas, hot
chocolate, fresh baked cookies, and spring water anytime. Guest
refrigerator available. Massage therapy can be arranged in your room.
Located in the heart of the
historic district, on a pretty gas-lit main street, we are a
short walk to the water, quaint shops, restaurants, cafes, coffeehouses
with entertainment, churches, spas, town green activities, ice skating
pond, scenic North Cove historic district, and Saybrook Point Park at
the mouth of the Connecticut River. We are next door to an old-fashioned
ice-cream parlor (since 1896), coffeehouse/café, and art gallery; and
across the street from the General William Hart House Museum and a
pillared white church. We are also part of a historic walking tour and
scenic coastal bicycle loop.

Bordered on 2 sides by the CT River
& Long Island Sound, Old Saybrook embodies the spirit of a charming,
small New England town with a rich seafaring tradition. We are centrally
located 100 miles from New York City and Boston (midway between). 1 hr
from Hartford, CT and Providence, RI airports. There are two public boat
launches; 1 is 1/2 mile from B&B and affords great canoe/kayak
routes/scenery from the cove to the river to the sound.
We are just 1 mile to beaches,
lighthouses, Long Island Sound & Connecticut River Cruises, an historic
walking park, 9 hole
waterfront golf course, mini golf, and waterfront dining. Beach
passes, maps, and advice provided! From the B&B take a scenic stroll
along the water past the historic homes and scenic views of North and
South Cove, Saybrook Point, and Fenwick. Watch the sun set over the
ocean, or take a walk at Fort Saybrook Monument Park or out to one of
Old Saybook’s lighthouses. Beautiful area for walking, bicycling,
canoeing or kayaking, antiquing, and scenic drives along the CT River
and Long Island Sound.
