The new owners and innkeepers,
Elaine & Leo Klevens, invite y ou to relax, step back in time, and enjoy a stay
amid an enchanting collection of New England country antiques and reproductions
in the rambling 18th century farmhouse that is Riverwind Inn. In addition to
eight uniquely delightful guest rooms, Riverwind offers a multitude of common
rooms providing you with many fascinating spaces for mingling or privacy.
The Riverwind Inn is located in the Connecticut
River Valley's historic Deep River, a picturesque community whose rural charm is
complemented by the neighboring villages of Essex and Chester. This two-story
country estate is immaculately detailed and creatively appointed with a diverse
blend of New England antiques and reproductions.
The bed and breakfast's most distinctive
characteristic may very well be that it offers guests so much to explore. While
most inns have only one or two common rooms, the Riverwind Inn features seven.
So much to see and experience provides guests with a true sense of adventure as
they set out to find the idiosyncracies of each nook and cranny. There's nothing
hidden, though, about the inn's reputation. The Los Angeles Times, New York
Times, Country Inns, Country Living, and Country Decorating are but a
few of the publications that have featured The Riverwind Inn. In fact, the Inn
was recently named the "Editor's Choice" by Early American Life magazine
and selected as a Romantic Hideaway by The Discerning Traveler.
Three of the common rooms boast
fireplaces, including a breathtaking 12-foot stone cooking fireplace in the
18th-century keeping room. There's also a wrap-around porch, two candle-lit
breakfast rooms, library, and spacious upstairs study. The inn also features
eight guest rooms, each with its own private bath.

After a full breakfast, guests usually
turn their attention toward charting the day that lies ahead. First and
foremost, the Connecticut River Valley is known for its numerous antique shops,
making it an absolute mecca for collectors. The Goodspeed Opera House and The
Ivoryton Playhouse are popular destination sites for Riverwind guests, as are
the nearby Gillett Castle, Devil's Hopyard, and the area's various casinos.
The
Valley's Canfield Woods Preserve offers 300 acres for hiking and biking
enthusiasts, and for the more sedentary, the steam train/riverboat ride in
neighboring Essex provides a panoramic view of the Valley's gorgeous
countryside. Mystic Seaport and Hammonasset Beach are only a short drive away.
Riverwind Inn invites you to visit and
enjoy relaxation, fine dining, antiquing, and sightseeing in the beautiful
Connecticut Valley. With its wonderfully appointed guest rooms, rambling common
areas, and informal country atmosphere, however, Riverwind is more than a place
to stay -- it's a destination in itself!
We are pleased to announce the opening of
