The village of Madison, mid-way between Manhattan and Boston, is
a beautiful colonial era town in a shoreline area that offers
many opportunities for relaxing, shopping, touring, and dining. During your
visit you may want to browse antique, specialty or outlet shops, or visit
the museums at Yale University in nearby New Haven. Area towns are known
for their colonial historic districts, craft and fine art galleries,
and restaurants. Dining choices range from shoreline casual to special
occasion elegance.

The Tidewater is about ¾ mile from the center of the village and one mile
from the nearest beach, overlooking the Boston Post Road in a wooded
residential area.. The large shaded back yard slopes down to meet the tidal wetlands
of Fence Creek. The tidal wetlands of Long Island Sound are visible across the
road in the front. On the side of the house, the English garden, with its
park benches and umbrella table, is a favorite spot for relaxing in nice weather. Inside, the Inn offers a cozy and elegant
atmosphere of antiques and estate furniture, with a bit of Chinese influence.
The beamed sitting room has a large fireplace surrounded by comfortable
furniture mostly from the
1930's. At the other end of this large room, guests enjoy breakfast in
front of a sunny bay window.

All of the guest rooms
are nicely furnished, with your choice of king, queen,
full, or twin beds. The special occasion Madison room on the second floor
has a king four poster bed and a sitting area with a cocktail table, love seat
and large wing-backed chair. The Cottage is a beautiful hide-away complete
with sitting room, king bed with carved teak headboard, glamorous bath with
Jacuzzi for two, and private patio. Two first floor guest rooms
have romantic working fireplaces. Most of the rooms have a canopy or four poster
bed, and all nine rooms offer the convenience of private bath, cable television,
air conditioning, telephone and hair dryer.
We look forward to your visit and feel sure you would enjoy the Inn and the
area!
