District just 100 feet off St. Charles Avenue, route of the famous Streetcar
which can ride you down Live Oak Tree lined streets to the French Quarter and
Bourbon Street in minutes. Duck back in to your B&B to freshen up between Mardi
Gras Parades. We are located walking distance from Magazine Street, The D-Day
Museum and very close to the Morial Convention Center and the Central Business
District, Louisiana Superdome, The Aquarium of the Americas. Commander's Palace
Restaurant and Lafayette Cemetery are located just around the corner.
The 1891 Castle Inn is a 9,500
square foot Gilded Age mansion, offering nine suites and rooms, steps off St.
Charles Avenue, the route of the world-famous streetcar and the Mardi Gras
parades (viewable from our windows). If you are looking for something other than
a run of the mill, "been there before, done that" touristy vacation in a
cookie-cutter hotel room, we invite you to come stay with us.
The 1891 Castle Inn offers the
best of both worlds - tucked neatly in the Garden District, one of the most
beautiful and exclusive neighborhoods in the world - yet minutes from the ofttimes wild and wacky French Quarter. The St. Charles streetcar stops right at
our corner and will take you down to Bourbon Street and the rest of the French
Quarter in less than ten minutes for just five quarters. (And yes, they do run
around the clock.)
When you stay with us, you'll feel
like you are visiting an old friend's grand and gracious, yet comfortable and
unstuffy home. Our oversized rooms with hardwood floors and balconies boast 13
foot high ceilings and 10 foot tall windows. Each room has been personally
decorated by the owner, Miss Karen, to celebrate a different and wonderful
aspect of this unique town's culture and history, combining taste with fun,
tradition with funkiness, and elegance with relaxed comfort.
The 1891 Castle Inn Bed and
Breakfast normally serves a light Continental Breakfast. If you let us know
ahead of time, we can try to stock your room refrigerator with your desired
goodies. Or, if you wish, there is a coffee shop just around the corner.
