1794 Watchtide by the Sea is a distinctive 18th century seaside inn listed on the National Historic Register. A stone's throw from the village of Searsport - and a short drive to Camden, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Scrumptious breakfasts served on the 60' sun porch overlooking Penobscot Bay and our bird/wildlife sanctuary.

An Inn since 1917 hosting many presidential wives and frequently, Eleanor Roosevelt who liked "the cleanliness, the good food, the spectacular view of Penobscot Bay and the lack of publicity" Hospitality which we take great pride in continuing to this day. 

This charming property with it's period furniture, exudes a warm, welcoming feel, with a calm and relaxing ambiance.  The  year-round 60' sun porch is a favorite relaxing place of guests for reading, hobbies, good conversation or a nap on the wicker chaise.

Yankee Magazine Editor's Choice, and voted by inn-goers as the Best to Visit Again and Again - Arrington's Book of Lists - 2004. This Inn has received acclaim nationwide in such as the Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, the Deseret News, The Best of New England, Maine an  Explorer's Guide (considered the Maine Bible by many) etc.

Air Conditioned Rooms Available: The Brigadier room with queen bed and
fantastic ocean view.  The Eleanor Roosevelt suite king bed, 2 person Jacuzzi & skylight, ocean view; The Lucy & Pettee rooms - both with king beds and private baths - overlooking the front and side yards and gardens; the luxurious first floor General Knox Suite with fireplace, antique mirrored breakfront headboard; sitting room with day bed and private bath with whirlpool tub.

Season Details: High season starts in  mid-May and ends in  mid-October - many seasonal & quiet season specials are available.

Rates: All rates include Maine Sales Tax. Quiet season rates are available.

Cancellation/Deposits Policy: Deposit of 50% with minimum of 1 night, will be applied equally to all nights. If cancellation is required, a service fee of $25.00 per room will be incurred. If cancellation is made in less than three weeks from arrival there is a charge of 1/2 of the total room charge; if made in 14 days or less from arrival the full room(s) reservation will be charged, unless we have been able to re-rent the room(s) for the entire period of your reservation. We are sorry, but we are not able to offer refunds on single night stays, or in the event of illness, emergency, inclement weather or any other circumstances that are beyond our control!

Vacation Rentals Available:
Please enquire about our Vacation Rentals. Rate is $4,000 per week, plus 7% sales tax and $1,000 damage deposit.
