The town of Kingfield is nestled in the western mountains of Maine. From the hotel veranda enjoy a spectacular backdrop of mountains, plus the bustling activities of our towns main street. Outdoor activities of nearly all types are the key attraction to this rustic section of Maine.

The grounds surrounding the hotel are small but beautiful. Under the beautiful hardwood trees on the back lawn are two swing sets and a picnic table. Many birdhouses and feeders are hanging in the branches and you simply must get your picture taken in the "rock chair"!

As you open the oak door and step into the lobby, you'll be enveloped by the timeless grandeur of the grand hotel era. The spacious lobby features fumed oak panels and trim, polished brass fixtures, terrazzo floors, high tin ceilings, a huge fireplace and a grand piano. The period velvet couches invite you to "slow down and smell the roses". Writing tables with vases of flowers and writing materials are in the halls on each floor. There's a couch on the second floor by the entrance to the outdoor balcony.

Slide into a comfortable Adirondack chair and enjoy the view of the mountains and tranquility of the area. There are also small tables and chairs to enjoy coffee, a snack or perhaps a game of checkers amidst seasonal flowers and decorations.

From Portland, travel I-95 to Augusta from Augusta follow Route 27 to Kingfield.   From Northern New Hampshire, travel U.S. Route 2 to Farmington from Farmington, follow Route 27 to Kingfield.   From Bangor travel I-95 to Newport from Newport follow U.S. Route 2 to Skowhegan take a right onto Route 201 North, travel about 4 miles take left on Route 148 into Madison/Anson Directly after crossing the Kennebec River in Anson take a right onto Route 201A. Travel about 5 miles to North Anson and take a left onto Route 16 to Kingfield. The Kingfield Herbert Hotel is located right on Main Street in Kingfield, on the left hand side on Route 27 North.
