Pier One Waterfront
Rentals, now a part of the Harbor Cottage Inn, offers weekly
waterfront suites in Southwest Harbor, Maine. We are an easy 2 minute
walk to the Harbor Cottage Inn and the picturesque village of Southwest
Harbor and conveniently near Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Pier
One Waterfront Rentals is situated on the western "quiet side" of Mount
Desert Island. Our sunsets are lovely. Come and join us at Pier One.
Manicured grounds and sundecks on a
sheltered cove provide a unique coastal setting. Five well-appointed
suites/apartments including a studio cottage feature queen size beds, fine
linens & towels, cable TV, telephone with answering machine, hair d ryers,
make-up mirrors and very well equipped kitchens. No small detail has been
overlooked. Inviting picture windows and private outdoor spaces capture
ever-changing harbor activities. The 150-foot pier is private and available
exclusively for our guests' enjoyment. Dock and launch your canoe, kayak or
small boat right outside your door. The sunsets from Pier One are beyond compare
in the area.
This very
unique compound offers a unique experience of being on a picturesque
working harbor with beautiful views and privacy. Come and enjoy the views, the
birds, watch the sail, lobster and fish boats leave and come back. Come to see
boats being refurbished, enjoy with the sea breezes mixed with the sounds and
views of a beautiful old working harbor.

SAILING:
The waters of Acadia National Park are a breathtaking sight!
Experience the quaint harbors and coves of nearby Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor,
Bass Harbor, Bar Harbor, and more as we sail serenely around famous Egg Rock
with its rare puffin birds, Mt. Desert Rock with its large seal population, or
the Cranberry Islands where your imagination will run away!
BIKING:
The Harbor Cottage Inn is happy to provide our guests with casual "beach
cruiser" style bicycles at no additional charge. And, for the tough trails,
mountain bikes are available at nearby Southwest Cycle (244-5856). Once you've
saddled the perfect bike, it's time to hit the trails! The 57-mile network of
gravel carriage roads constructed by John D. Rockefeller in 1915 is custom-made
for nature enthusiasts of all ages.
CANOEING AND
KAYAKING: Any day on the water is a great time! While you're staying
with us at the Inn, you'll definitely want to enjoy the protected waters of Long
Pond, Echo Lake, Seal Cove Pond, or Bass Harbor Marsh. Or, if you're feeling
more adventurous, try the open waters of Southwest Harbor, Somes Sound , and
beyond. A wide array of rental boats are available at nearby shops and guide
services are offered.
WILDLIFE
WALKS: If you're on a quest to discover nature's secrets along
Maine's magical seacoast, then you're in for a treat - nearby nature trails at
Ship's Harbor, Shore Path, and Seawall offer the photographer or birding
enthusiast lifelong memories.
GOLF & TENNIS:
Attention golfers! Some of New England's most picturesque courses are just
minutes away from the Inn. Test your golfing skills on the oldest golf grounds
in America… here since 1892. Many tennis courts are available all season.
HORSE DRAWN TOURS:
In this historic wonderland, what better way to see the sights than from
a horse-drawn carriage. Let us help you plan a memorable experience on a
two-hour horse-drawn tour in comfortable multiple seat carriages offered all day
long through Acadia National Park's carriage roads. According to Fodor's Travel
Guide these tours are, "…pure romance!"
WINTER: For the
winter-sports enthusiast, cross-country skiing is enjoyed along the 43-plus
miles of carriage trails at Acadia National Park (which are maintained as ski
touring trails). Snowmobiling - the motor and paved roads of Acadia national
park are open for snowmobiles - wow!
