Pier One Waterfront Rentals, now a part of the Harbor Cottage Inn, offers weekly waterfront suites in Southwest Harbor, Maine. We are an easy 2 minute walk to the Harbor Cottage Inn and the picturesque village of Southwest Harbor and conveniently near Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Pier One Waterfront Rentals is situated on the western "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island. Our sunsets are lovely. Come and join us at Pier One.

Manicured grounds and sundecks on a sheltered cove provide a unique coastal setting. Five well-appointed suites/apartments including a studio cottage feature queen size beds, fine linens & towels, cable TV, telephone with answering machine, hair dryers, make-up mirrors and very well equipped kitchens. No small detail has been overlooked. Inviting picture windows and private outdoor spaces capture ever-changing harbor activities. The 150-foot pier is private and available exclusively for our guests' enjoyment. Dock and launch your canoe, kayak or small boat right outside your door. The sunsets from Pier One are beyond compare in the area.

This very unique compound offers a unique experience of being on a picturesque working harbor with beautiful views and privacy. Come and enjoy the views, the birds, watch the sail, lobster and fish boats leave and come back. Come to see boats being refurbished, enjoy with the sea breezes mixed with the sounds and views of a beautiful old working harbor.

Recreational Opportunities:

SAILING: The waters of Acadia National Park are a breathtaking sight!  Experience the quaint harbors and coves of nearby Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, Bass Harbor, Bar Harbor, and more as we sail serenely around famous Egg Rock with its rare puffin birds, Mt. Desert Rock with its large seal population, or the Cranberry Islands where your imagination will run away!

BIKING: The Harbor Cottage Inn is happy to provide our guests with casual "beach cruiser" style bicycles at no additional charge. And, for the tough trails, mountain bikes are available at nearby Southwest Cycle (244-5856). Once you've saddled the perfect bike, it's time to hit the trails! The 57-mile network of gravel carriage roads constructed by John D. Rockefeller in 1915 is custom-made for nature enthusiasts of all ages.

CANOEING AND KAYAKING: Any day on the water is a great time! While you're staying with us at the Inn, you'll definitely want to enjoy the protected waters of Long Pond, Echo Lake, Seal Cove Pond, or Bass Harbor Marsh. Or, if you're feeling more adventurous, try the open waters of Southwest Harbor, Somes Sound , and beyond. A wide array of rental boats are available at nearby shops and guide services are offered.

WILDLIFE WALKS: If you're on a quest to discover nature's secrets along Maine's magical seacoast, then you're in for a treat - nearby nature trails at Ship's Harbor, Shore Path, and Seawall offer the photographer or birding enthusiast lifelong memories.

GOLF & TENNIS: Attention golfers! Some of New England's most picturesque courses are just minutes away from the Inn. Test your golfing skills on the oldest golf grounds in America… here since 1892. Many tennis courts are available all season.

HORSE DRAWN TOURS: In this historic wonderland, what better way to see the sights than from a horse-drawn carriage. Let us help you plan a memorable experience on a two-hour horse-drawn tour in comfortable multiple seat carriages offered all day long through Acadia National Park's carriage roads. According to Fodor's Travel Guide these tours are, "…pure romance!"

WINTER: For the winter-sports enthusiast, cross-country skiing is enjoyed along the 43-plus miles of carriage trails at Acadia National Park (which are maintained as ski touring trails). Snowmobiling - the motor and paved roads of Acadia national park are open for snowmobiles - wow!
