"A
House That Makes You Feel Right At Home"

The Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast
is lodging at its
best, resting in the foothills of the Berkshires, in the scenic Hudson
Valley. Located in Eastern New York, minutes from the Western
Massachusetts border, the Spencertown Country House B&B is near Lenox
(18 miles from Tanglewood) and 15 miles north of the Hudson, NY antique
shops and art galleries. Situated on five landscaped acres in rural
Columbia County, New York, and at the heart of Berkshire cultural
attractions in Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington, Massachusetts
and those Hudson Valley destinations in Hudson, Kinderhook, and Chatham,
New York. The warm country experience in this nine room B&B is a welcome
contrast to the hectic pace of the nearby Berkshire destinations and the
active days of antiquing on Warren Street in Hudson.
Built as a Columbia Country farmhouse
in 1803, this country house was converted in the 1950’s to an inn that
gained fame in Columbia County, NY as a site for weddings and
celebrations. In 1996 sensitive renovations transitioned this country
house into Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast. The property has
retained the historic charm and flavor of the nineteenth century and
embodies modern amenities for comfortable contemporary living. Choose
the period flavor of the five “Country House” guest rooms or the country
atmosphere in the four Carriage Barn guest rooms (where sounds of the
near-by rushing stream are heard through the open windows). We also
offer a small meeting room for executive retreats. This comfortable and
charming bed and breakfast is
just minutes from the cultural and historic attractions in New England
and Hudson Valley, NY
During the winter, spend hours walking along the snowy country roads or
enjoying the warmth of the fireplace parlor after skiing at nearby
Catamount or Jimminy Peak. In the spring and summer, choose your
favorite country road or marked trail for hiking or biking, but look
forward to returning to this Hudson Valley bed and breakfast for an iced
tea, cookies and a well-deserved rest. The Tanglewood Music Center, a
major Berkshire attraction, is a must in July and August. Picnic on the
Tanglewood lawn as part of the Tanglewood experience, or picnic on our
lawn or covered porch before the concert. In the fall when the foothills
of the Berkshires countryside bursts with color, have fun apple picking
at the nearby farms.
Warren Street in Hudson, New York is a mecca for antique shopping as is
Route 7 in Sheffield, Massachusetts. For history and genealogy, visit
the Columbia County Historical Society in close-by Kinderhook, where the
Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is located. Whether you visit
the Norman Rockwell Museum or the Hancock Shaker Village in Berkshire
County, Massachusetts, the Shaker Museum and Library or Olana State
Historic Site in Hudson Valley, NY you will never drive more than 20
minutes from the Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast.
Relax in front of the fireplace or on the covered porch, a collection of
books, games and a VCR film library are always available.
Breakfast
You’ll enjoy a delicious country breakfast. Homemade fruit breads,
