The perfect choice for a totally relaxing stay

Since 1798, The Parker Borden House, now the home of the Hearth House, has stood at the northern tip of Bristol's Hope Street, only a few short blocks from the center of town.

Conveniently located midway between burgeoning Providence 15 minutes to our north, and Newport's Gold Coast, 20 minutes to our south, Hearth House, an authentic example of federal architecture, stands at the juncture of Hope and Thames Streets and offers the warmth of its 10 fireplaces in winter, cool breezes in summer and, in all seasons, sweeping views of Bristol Harbor.

We invite you to stay in one of our light-filled guest rooms, each featuring authentic furnishings, pDining Roomrivate bath, working fireplace, air conditioning, and a view of Bristol Harbor or our lush English Garden.

Visit Colt State Park, only a few minutes drive from our front door. This idyllic setting is perfect in all seasons. In the Summer, bask on its extensive beaches and enjoy the evening concerts. In Autumn, enjoy walking its path of golden foliage. In Winter, snow lovers can snow-shoe or cross-country ski, and spring brings its rebirth of flowers and trees for all to enjoy. You may also choose to bike, skate, run, jog, walk or stroll along the Nature path that begins across the street from Hearth House and ends 17 miles away in east Providence.

Stop to enjoy coffee or a bite to eat while you watch the sailboats drifting past our serene sunsets. Have lunch in one of our many cafes or tea rooms, and allow us to reserve a table for you at one of Bristol's exceptional restaurants.

Upon Returning to Hearth House, spend time in our Common Room, stretching out by the fireplace, reading, watching a video, listening to music, playing old fashion board games or partaking in good conversation with newfound friends. In fine weather, take in the sights and sounds of nature found in our garden, or retire to your room to enjoy some private moments by your own fireplace.

Join us each morning for breakfast before a blazing fireplace, a breakfast which includes our home made muffins, bread, crepes, puddings and so much more, warm from the oven, as well as fruits, juices and, of course, plenty of fresh brewed coffee and teas.

After breakfast, let us help you to plan your day. Visit the educational and cultural centers of Providence, which has recently been rated as the nation's number one city in which to reside in North Eastern America. Or travel southward and visit Newport's museums and mansions. Enjoy the Jazz Festival, shopping and the seafood. And, if you have a passion for shopping, spend your days 'saving money' at such renowned outlets as nearby Fall River and Wrentham, each home to over 100 fine named stores.

Of course, Hearth House's location makes it a desirable place to stay if you are visiting Roger Williams University, Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University or the many other institutions of higher learning that abound in our area.

Many of our guests are here for a totally relaxing stay. Those guests will be relieved to find that Antique shops are many and varied in Warren, 5 minutes to our North, and plentiful right here in town. Stroll to Linden Place or one of our 8 historic museums, artistic shops, or Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum.

Whether you are joining us for a 'getaway' weekend, a longer vacation, special event or on business, our wish is for you to become a regular guest in our home and, while you are with us, to feel that Hearth House is your 'home away from home'.
