Ridge View Bed and
Breakfast sits on one of America's most picturesque scenic
byways -- Virginia's Byway Route 231 in Madison County and is close to
historical sites, Universities and wineries on the Virginia Civil War
Trail of Rochelle. Guests stay in a
beautifully restored farmhouse located on 17 rolling acres and enjoy
fantastic views of the incomparable Blue Ridge while relaxing in the sunlit
"Great Room" or on Ridge View's old-fashioned porch.
Each of Ridge View's three guest rooms is
air-conditioned and has a queen-sized bed, private bath, and ceiling fan.
La Cameretta features a Victorian decor with writing desk and reading
chair. La Bella Vista, as its name suggests, boasts a beautiful
view and is furnished with a reading chair, day bed, and a wicker bed. The
bright and cheerful Vista del
Giardino overlooks the formal garden
and garden fountain. Its 1920's vintage furniture and whirlpool tub are a match
for the romantic at heart.
Coffee and juice are served bright and
early followed by an elegant and hearty Ridge View breakfast served in the
dining room or on one of the patios.
After satisfying your palate, you can
feast your eyes on the inn's surrounding Blue Ridge beauty. The nearby Skyline
Drive will wind you through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and there are some 20
wineries within 30 minutes of the inn. Shoppers will enjoy the area's myriad
antique venues, and the University of Virginia and James Madison University
offer everything from great libraries and exhibits to dramatic theater and
action-packed sporting events.
History is well represented in the area
as the The Virginia Civil War Trail runs by Ridge View. Rochelle is also where
the battle of Jack's Shop (modern Rochelle) took place in September 22, 1863,
and the Exchange Hotel, a Civil War museum, is in nearby Gordonsville. Other
historical attractions include Montpelier, Monticello, and Historic Mitchie
Tavern.
Yes, there's certainly plenty to see and do
in this neck of the woods, but don't underestimate the joy of doing nothing at
all. If you choose to stay put, you can always mix into your time of leisure a
little croquet, horseshoes, or boccie. You'll also be welcome to pick fruit,
herbs, and vegetables in season from the Ridge View gardens or one of the local
farms.
